True Heart of Worship
Church of God (Seventh Day) Independent

History

True Heart of Worship is part of the Church of God (Seventh Day), which was born out of the Holiness Movements of the 1800s. During these movements, people hungered for the word of God and were seeking to live lives that were closer to God's standard of holiness as described in the Bible.

They found there was nothing in the Bible that said the Sabbath had been canceled or changed. They also found that the "holy days", started by the Catholic Church and celebrated by the Protestant churches, were in fact pagan. These findings were not unique. There were other churches who agreed and still do.

They also found the Bible never says people go to Heaven when they die. Instead the hope of the early churches was always in the return of the Messiah – the Second Coming, also known as the Second Advent. This became a large part of their teaching and they became known as the Adventist Movement.

Shortly after the formation of this group, another group formed within it who believed that Ellen G. White was a prophetess. The Church of God (Seventh Day) did not agree and the two groups split. The Ellen G. White branch is now known as the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Sometime later, Herbert W. Armstrong began to teach some unique ideas that were not accepted by the Church of God (Seventh Day). He and some others split off to form the World-Wide Church of God that was very successful for many years.

In 1988 a man named Joseph Corrales began holding Bible studies and services in his home. These were successful and the group began to grow. By 1990 this group had grown too large to fit in a home. A building was sublet from another church and the Eisenhauer Church of God (Seventh Day) was formed.

That church purchased a building in June 1999. It moved and changed its name to Heart of Worship Church of God (Seventh Day).

In May of 2012, Heart of Worship Church of God (Seventh Day) merged with Living Rock Church of God (Seventh Day) to form New Hope United Church of God (Seventh Day).

In January 2020, some of the original members of Heart of Worship Church of God (Seventh Day) and some others left New Hope United Church of God (Seventh Day) to form True Heart of Worship Church of God (Seventh Day).

They met for some time in the reception room of the Midcrown Pavilion Apartment Homes. Due to COVID-19 that building became unavailable for them to use.

They became an online church, first via Zoom then later via Skype. This continued for most of two years until restrictions were dropped and after that. A search was begun to find a building.

On December 18, 2021, Stan presented the first lesson in the Thousand Oaks Bible Church (TOBC) … to an empty room. This was partly a test of the facilities, before people were invited to attend.

During December of 2022, the executive began discussions with The Orchard church about using their location. They were told that The Orchard had approved the deal and gave notice to TOBC that they would be leaving. Then everything changed and the deal officially collapsed on Feb 27, 2023.

While the discussions were in progress, True Heart of Worship had returned to being a Skype church, beginning in February.

Late in July of 2023, Pastor Joe gave up his CoG7 ministry credentials. On the 31st of that month the full name of the church was changed to "True Heart of Worship Church of God (Seventh Day) Independent".

On July 30th, 2024, the executive agreed to discontinue regular services. Pastor Joe's day-to-day problem with his voice was making it impossible to plan services. It was agreed that the contributors would continue creating videos as the Spirit moved and these would be posted on the church's web site. In addition, whenever Pastor Joe was able to record a sermon, the church would meet online as they had before.
