True Heart of Worship
Church of God (Seventh Day) Independent

Vision

What would you do if you have to start over? Would you simply redo everything the same as before? Or would you try to do things better? In the grow-at-any-cost mentality of many of today’s churches, there has been a tendency to water down the message. Churches have employed a seeker-sensitive model to church services that appears to be successful at the onset because it fills up pews. But history tells us that the concept will eventually doom those churches to failure. For more details, you can read the following article. https://www.christianitytoday.com/women/2013/august/how-seeker-sensitive-consumer-church-is-failing-generation.html

In the seeker-sensitive model, the services put greater emphasis on feeling spiritual and a fairly generic message. Little or nothing is demanded of the visitor and a warm, friendly, atmosphere of acceptance permeates the service. Unfortunately, when more is expected of new members, they will protest and eventually leave. Then the process has to be started all over again. From the church’s perspective, they are allowing a person to grow gradually. But from the point of view of the church member, they feel like they were a victim of a bait and switch approach and they leave with great resentment.

For Sabbath keeping churches, it is particularly difficult to build a large congregation. Part of the problem is that most people are used to the idea of celebrating Sunday worship and in some cases, only on special occasions. The closer you are to the Bible, the more of a sacrifice there is on the part of the individual member. One option that can be employed is to become more protestant like in the church services. The problem with that is that you fall into competition with other protestant churches who probably are more established and experienced in this approach to worship.

The goal for the True Heart of Worship Church is to be up front with what we believe, what our goals are, and what we expect from each other. This is a more traditional, conservative approach to doing church. While it may not be a fast track style to bringing people in, it is an honest, realistic way of doing church. The church will employ tried and true methods for serving people that come through the church doors. In addition to a traditional approach to Sabbath keeping services, the church will expand outreach that will also include reaching the masses via online.

Pastor Joe is also employed as a college professor and teaches most of his courses online. He has also served as the Chair for Distance Learning at the college he teaches. He will include a lot of his skills and knowledge to reach people throughout the country who cannot attend a local church. Various modern-day approaches to teaching online that have proven to be successful will also be employed in the effort to reach the masses. People will be ministered to locally and wherever they are without compromising the truth of the gospel or using gimmicks that fall short of a sincere Christian ministry.
