No Man Has Ascended
While speaking to Nicodemus, Jesus says "No man has ascended to Heaven." What about Enoch and Elijah? Didn't they ascend to Heaven? What about Moses and David and all the other godly people who died? Didn't they ascend to Heaven? In this lesson, we start by focusing on what Jesus means by these words. There are many different interpretations. Then we look into those apparent contradictions. (50:23)   2024-12-16

You Have Heard ...
In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus addresses some bad teachings that have gotten into Judaism. For these 6 items, Jesus begins by saying, "You have heard ...". In this study, we look at what people are saying and why and we look at what Jesus says about how they should live. (44:59)2024-12-10

Marriage, Etc.
Some bad teachings have gotten into Christianity and that also affects marriage. In this study, we look at marriage and related topics with the goal of identifying these misunderstandings and offering Biblical correction. (45:39)2024-12-05

I Have the Gift of Teaching
Some of the leaders in Christianity have the ability to teach but do not have an understanding of the Bible from which they can teach. We look at an example from one pastor who misunderstands the Sadducee's question, which was intended to show there was no Resurrection. (34:22)2024-11-26

Did the Father Abandon Jesus on the Cross?
Jesus said the father had abandoned him, but that seems unlikely to us. So, this is a commonly asked question but many of the answers are wrong or incomplete. Some people say, 'yes' and they use a verse in 2nd Corinthians to support that. We'll really dig into that complicated verse to understand what Paul is saying. Then we'll look at a better source for understanding why Jesus said what he said. (25:23)2024-11-20

Called By Name
Through Isaiah, God does something that he never does again. He calls someone, through prophecy, by the person's name, more than 200 years before that person will be born. That person will be the king of the Medo-Persian Empire which came after the Babylonian Empire which had conquered Israel. (32:43)2024-11-18

Is Isaiah 3 Also Speaking to Us?
Isaiah 3 is God's warning to Israel about the disaster that is coming for them because of what they are doing because they have turned away from God. God speaks about some specific things they are doing. We are doing the same things now in our society. Is this message also for us? (44:15)2024-10-25

Home Church
The first-century church was not like the modern church and the differences matter. The differences account for some of the problems found in the modern church. In this study we see where the Bible describes the first-century church and what it did at its meetings. (1:01:42)2024-10-21

Cremation and Christianity
There are many videos on this topic but there shouldn't be. The Bible is clear about what our new bodies will be and where they come from. Yet, many Christians persist in believing their dead bodies must be preserved. We look at the two sources for this idea, what the Bible says about our new bodies, and we show that, with just a little thought we can see the flaws in the idea that we need to preserve our physical bodies. Does God Create People To Send Them To Eternal Torment
A question from YouTube is a question that the Apostle Paul answered long ago. Is God doing evil to create people whom he knows are destined for Eternal Torment? At the time of the creation of Adam, God knew everyone who would be born and what they would do. God made all kinds of people, good, bad, and in between. Is God doing evil to judge the evil people, when he created them the way they are? (32:10)2024-10-03

Versers
Too many people understand each topic in the Bible through a single verse. They choose a verse that makes sense to them and a translation that says it the way they want to hear it and that becomes their definitive verse on the topic. We must not understand the Bible that way. We need to understand concepts, not verses. Concepts are built up from all that the Bible says on a topic. (24:11)2024-09-16

The 800-Pound Gorilla Makes Us Stronger
As a church, our beliefs and practices are far from those of the Protestant churches. There are vastly more of them than there are of us, making them the 800-pound gorilla. If we talk about our church, the question comes naturally, 'what does your church believe?' and we know the question after that will be, 'why?'. In order to respond, we must know much more, not just about those differences, but about everything in the Bible. This makes us stronger. This extra work and learning is not for everyone, however, and some have turned away. (10:09)2024-09-11

Hyper-Nice Jesus
Some people try to present Jesus as someone who wouldn't offend anyone. That is not how the Bible presents him. The Bible does not say 'love does not offend' and the Golden Rule cannot be used to say 'do not offend.' Jesus said many things that his listeners found offensive. He even rebuked them directly and taught his disciples to do the same. (24:48)2024-09-11

The Nations Will Look
In Revelation, the Bible says there will be a time when all the nations will be able to look at an event that happens in Jerusalem. In our time we say, 'so what, big deal' but when Revelation was written such a thing was inconceivable. Yet the Bible declares it, and other things as well. There is a God. (15:59)2024-09-10

How A Building Changes A Church
In previous lessons, I've talked about reasons why the church has been so weak. This lesson continues that theme but asks a different question. Do our buildings make us weak? Mixed with some western culture influences do our views on a church building change us into something we aren't supposed to be. (32:31)2024-09-05

Women in the Church

How Many Strikes Until You Are Out?
No one teaches how many sins it takes before you are kicked out of the Kingdom of Heaven, but everyone wants and needs to know. The answer is in the Bible but many people can't see it. It's not about the number but about the heart behind the sin. This verse-packed study explains it all. (1:16:21)2024-08-01

How Do I Find a Good Church?
A long YouTube video gives many factors to consider to choose the church that is best for you. People in the modern church forget to include the Holy Spirit in this or relegates him to a rubber stamp for the decision. What if it isn't about you? What if God wants you to be a shining light in a bad church? How should we find the church where the Spirit wants us to be? (11:10)2024-07-20

Is God Acting in the U.S.A.?In the past, when people went against what God was doing, they experienced blow-back, a spectacular fail where, not only did their plan not work, but it blew up in their faces. We are seeing that happen with attacks on former President Trump now. We have to wonder if God is acting and, if so, what is going on.2024-07-20

Destroying Canaanites
Some things God does are difficult for us and can be a problem for people who are not rooted in God. This study looks at one case where God orders the killing of the Canaanites. We see it was God's plan to destroy them once they became sinful enough. Still this shocks us and we will look at that. (17:02)2024-07-13

Why Doesn't God Forgive Satan?

Touching AnythingWe look at a misunderstanding of the Bible and the unbiblical practices of The 700 Club. From early on, this organization drew criticism for its false prophecies, for giving a podium to false prophets, and for its fundraising. It does do some good but that is mixed with much that is bad. It also tends to draw people into the club in a cultish way.2024-06-29

Led by the Spirit - An Exercise Book
In the hope of spiritually strengthening the weak modern church, I've created an online exercise book. It is based on parables from the Bible but uses them to train instead of the way Jesus used them - to filter out the spiritually weak. I hope you will put in the effort to work through as much of the book as you can. (21:13)

Why Does Clean Matter?
In the Old Testament, God said it was very important for his people to be clean. He was referring to a cleanness that was different from getting mud on your hands - a cleanness that we do not experience. Because we cannot see, hear, smell, touch, or taste this uncleanness, what does it matter to us if we are clean or unclean. But it matters to God. Why? (11:39)2024-05-25

Are you born again? What does it even mean to be born again? Even the people who should be able to answer that don't have good complete answers. Leftist Regrets
It's unusual for leftists to admit that their attempts to engineer a Utopian society have instead produced a mess, but some do. 'How to Know ...'In this look at conversion, as Calvinists think of it, we see that the result is commonly a person who constantly asks 'How can I know ...' but never finds the answer satisfying. Job!?! A Prophet!?!
We expect prophecy in the Bible books written by prophets but we don't expect it in the other books. We look at an example from Job, where prophecy wouldn't be expected. Empty Words EverywhereWe live in a society where truth had become less important than feelings. We find people and organizations trying to make us feel one way or another. Bible Text Tampering
Because of the differences between the Greek Bible manuscripts, we know that changes were made. We can see that the vast number of changes were trivial and even sometimes unintentional. Some weren't. In this study, we see an example where someone tried to insert trinity doctrine. Sometime later, people saw what had been done and ripped out the changes the best they could. (21:02)2024-03-30

Pry It From My Cold Dead FingersThe title reflects the idea of dying before you would give something up. That should be true of Christians holding on to Bible truths. The True Grace of GodIn this study of 1 Peter 1:3-15, Peter describes how God had pity on mankind, who were dead in their sins. He says this eternal life comes when Jesus returns - but that causes a problem with what most churches teach.2023-12-16

Evaluating IdeasWith so many false teachers around, it is critical for us to develop the practice of thinking Biblically and responding Biblically to all the teaching we hear. Paul addresses this directly, using one of these verses. We look at what Paul says and we look at two other examples from the Bible.2023-10-28

Perfect
The Bible uses the word 'Perfect' in 3 ways to refer to believers. Unfortunately, sometimes it uses the different ways within the same context. That can confuse people. This message describes the 3 ways and shows verses that use it in each way. (24:28)2023-10-14

Like the WorldChurches and Christians need to inspect themselves to see if they are still on the path. Failing to do this can result in us drifting away, unaware that there is a problem. As we build up the bad practices, beliefs, ideas, and sayings, we can get to a place where we stop growing. We need to get rid of bad things that contradict the good things God wants to lead us to. This message looks at a Protestant church as an example of bad practices and beliefs that have built up.2023-10-07

From the Outside
Just as it is hard to see the inside of a house through a window, so is Christianity to those on the outside. If they will not get close to the window and cup their hands around their eyes, they will never see. Instead they will pick out some shiny objects they like, mix in shiny objects from other religions, and create a religion of their own. That may comfort them until the end … but then comes the truth. 10 Commandments, But Which? The Bible is clear that there are 10 commandments written on 2 tablets but it doesn't says which is the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd, and it doesn't say which go on each tablet. As men read the text of the Ten Commandments, they invariably find only 9. That leaves them to come up with ways to get to 10 ... and there are a few ways. In doing so, they miss one of the commandments along with the depth and interconnection of all of them.2023-09-09

The Failure of CatholicismWhat was it that caused the Church of Rome to become so infested with false teachings and to fall away so badly? Shaggy based a song on denying the wrongs you had done but we are more interested in the spiritual realm. Paul talks about the sin inside of us sometimes capturing us and doing things we didn't want to do. Paul says he didn't understand why he couldn't always keep the law when he was under the Old Covenant. Now he understands why and although that is still the case, he says ... it wasn't me. Jesus attacks the Scribes and Pharisees for building tombs for the prophets. In our time, it is hard to understand what the problem is there. Hyper-grace is the idea that God's grace covers every kind of future sin, from the smallest to the largest. Paul and other apostles had to deal with two different forms of Hyper-grace in his time, so the Bible deals with this topic very clearly in many places. (38:40)2023-07-08

What Is Satan's Game?In this study we look at the trends in society and our understanding of God, Satan, and that the end-times is close, to get an idea of what Satan is doing. When we compare that with prophecy we see Satan is driving the world in a similar but different direction. He is doing that in an effort to make God a liar. Is The Bible Trustworthy? (Pt. 2)
In this study we look at Sumerian writings about Creation and the Flood. We see that the basic story is very close to what the Bible describes but the details are very different, sometimes even impossible. Is The Bible Trustworthy?
In this study we look at two areas of criticism of the trustworthiness of the Bible: consistency with reality and textual changes. We look at God telling Job about constellations and asking some odd questions about them. We find that Job Is revealing knowledge that no man could have known until our time. EnduringCan you safely say with full confidence that you will endure until the very end? The Bible says that there will be a great falling away towards the end. We are witnesses of this happening today. Churches are watering down the message so that they can attract more people. The Sixth TrumpetThe book of Revelation presents a sequence of events as a sequence of trumpets. While much of Revelation is hard to understand, the events of the sixth trumpet period are not as hard. The first event is the killing of 1/3 of the people on the earth. In this study we separate the literal nouns from the symbolic nouns. That allows us to know that this killing is literal and happens over a literal year, and to understand some of what the Bible says about how it happens. Then we choose the only possible method of killing that many people so quickly in our time and see if that fits all the facts and symbolic nouns.2022-06-17
